Loch a Chroisg Sentinels

Like so many people on their way to a day out in Torridon, Applecross or Gairloch, I often used to fly past this loch in my car in a hurry to get somewhere else. I remember catching fleeting glimpses of a mirrored reflection, but not really giving it much more thought — always there was something more pressing to attend to.

This photograph was taken after a spectacular day of mountain climbing with my partner, Ele, in Torridon. As we drove home shortly before sunset, there was a beautiful rich golden light behind us, so I pulled up the car, hopped over the fence and paid my first visit to the shores of Loch a Chroisg. I’ve been back several times since, but this remains my favourite photograph of this beautiful Scots pine-lined shoreline.
