Liathach over Loch Clair
Torridon

Liathach ("The Grey One") is my favourite mountain in the UK. Stretching along Glen Torridon, from Loch Clair in the East to the sea of Upper Loch Torridon in the West, it towers a full 1000 metres over the glen floor for much of its 4.5 mile long, spiny ridge — rising as it does so over 2 Munro peaks and a total of 4 Munro tops.

There are several obvious elements of this photograph that many people like — blue sky, snow capped mountain, lovely reflection, good dead tree. For me, though, it is the small patch of trees on the far shoreline — basking, as I was, in the weak morning sunlight — that always attracts my eye first!
