Loch Beinn a Mheadhoin,
Glen Affric

One of the most bewildering names in all Gaelic if you ask me — this beautiful loch in Glen Affric is actually pronounced "Ben a Vey-un". On this particular evening in late September, after a fruitful day’s tuition further up the glen, we took up this spot near one of the many islets that populates the Eastern end of the loch to watch the sunset. The dynamic range was quite extreme, perhaps 12 stops or more, and required 5-stops of neutral density graduate to hold the detail in the sky whilst exposing for the trees on the islet.
