Satin Water

Another long exposure photograph in our local burn, taken on the same morning as the previous photograph, but about 20 minutes later. As the sun rose higher in the sky, the division between the golden light filtering through the leafy canopy on the river’s bank, and the deep blue reflection of the sky above, became less defined. Again, I wanted to make the photograph primarily about the colour, but to also include a little more detail through the water’s surface, to reflect its almost "liquid metal" sheen. I therefore shot from a position more perpendicular to the water’s surface, to counteract a little of the reflection. By making a long exposure (roughly 90 seconds) I hope to have caught something of the water’s satinised metal hue.
