Bosta Beach, Great Bernera, Isle of Lewis

Bosta, on the island peninsula of Great Bernera on the West coast of Lewis, is one of the more popular beaches on the Outer Hebrides. At least some of its popularity originates from the restored Iron Age dwellings that sit just behind the beach head. In spite of its popularity, Bosta is a beautiful beach with white, white sand - reflecting its very high coral and shell content. On this windy summer day, the tide was rushing onto the beach; with breakers crashing over the barnacle-encrusted rockpools in the foreground.
