Mountain Jewels

Immediately recognisable to all who have been here, meaning "Jewelled Mountain", if ever a mountain was aptly named, it is this one. I’ve traversed Beinn Alligin many times, but I really did pick a cracking evening for an overnight camp on the summit of the lower Munro, Tom na Gruagaich. A warm evening, and not a breath of wind — only the light gives it away as late October.

I captured this photo as the last rays of a stunning sunset over the Trotternish of Skye cast their warmth on the foreground, really emphasising the 800metre drop barely a foot away.

This is one of my very favourite photographs — it looks fantastic as large as you can fit in your room!
