Stormy skies over the Megavalanche

This was the lead photograph in an article in International Mountainbike Magazine. I took this during final practice for the infamous Megavalanche race at Alpe d'Huez. Starting on the glacier at about 3200m, heats of 500 riders at once set off for an hour-long race over glacier, moraine, boulder fields, mountainside and woods on their way to an altitude of 700m - that's roughly 2.5km vertical descent. Judicious placement of three separate flashes was required to achieve this photograph and avoid the riders being silhouettes.
